Falklands Conservation supports the drive to diversify and expand the Falkland Islands’ economy, but this has to be balanced with environmental responsibility.
We do not oppose offshore exploration for oil but believe this should be tackled with due sensitivity for the marine environment. We work closely with the commercial fishing industry – and together we have significantly reduced albatross mortality in Falkland waters. We are world leaders in the field. We strongly support tourism and have published the very successful A Visitor’s Guide to the Falkland Islands. Through our Grants Scheme we help landowners and farmers with small-scale wildlife projects on their land.
