UK Executive Officer – Falklands Conservation

Salary:ca £28,000 (depending on experience)
Term:Permanent
Start Date:1st June 2010
Hours of Work:37.5 hours per week.
Occasional weekend and evening work outside normal hours will be required.
Responsible To:Chief Executive Officer, Falklands Conservation

Falklands Conservation takes action to protect the spectacular wildlife of the Falkland Islands, a UK Overseas Territory. The charity is seeking a full-time UK Executive Officer to succeed the current post holder who is retiring at the end of June 2010. The start date for this post is 1 June 2010.

Essential requirements for this post are:

  • Experience of working in the UK charity and environment sectors
  • Have a dedication to the goals of Falklands Conservation
  • A minimum of at least 3 A-levels or equivalent
  • Well organised with excellent written English and presentational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Financially and IT literate

It would be highly desirable to have publishing, fundraising and governance experience, plus a keen interest in wildlife conservation together with a good knowledge of the Falkland Islands. A major part of this job is fundraising, both nationally and internationally, together with promoting membership, to support conservation work in the Islands. As Falkland Conservation’s representative in the UK you will be expected to liaise with a wide range of organisations and individuals. The successful applicant will manage and produce publications, provide advice and information, give support to operational requirements, and be responsible for the organisation’s governance. The Officer is expected to manage a busy office without supervision undertaking a wide range of administrative and financial tasks and be available to travel overseas from time to time.
