Practical Conservation Leaflets Launched
Falklands Conservation has just issued (February 2007) a series of practical conservation leaflets giving detailed advice on saving wildlife and improving natural habitats in the Falkland Islands. The four detailed, down to earth guides cover rescuing marine mammals, planting tussac grass, management and removal of introduced invasive plants and first aid guidelines for injured or oiled birds.

It is hoped that this information will stimulate an increased interest in practical conservation action throughout the Islands. Each leaflet includes an equipment checklist, where to go for training and further help, and clear step by step instructions in appropriate techniques, be it re-floating a stranded whale or how to effectively clear gorse. They all give a summary of top tips and important points to remember.
Clearly written and researched by Becky Ingham, past Director and Conservation Officer of Falklands Conservation, and attractively designed with plenty of clear illustrations these leaflets should prove an invaluable help to anyone working with wildlife in the Falklands.
