Falklands Conservation

The Warrah or Falklands Fox (Canis antarcticus) was the only endemic Falklands mammal. This bold and inquisitive animal was never very numerous but, with the introduction of sheep, farmers backed by a Government bounty were encouraged to hunt them. The last one was killed in 1876.

Our Newsletter is so named in the hope that it will play a small part in preventing any other Falkland wildlife following the same path to extinction.
