Landsend Bluff Nature Reserve

Landsend Bluff (7Ha, 17 acres)
This nature reserve is part of a group of six islands off the coast of New Island which were gifted to Falklands Conservation by the Royal Society for Nature Conservation.

The land comprises two large bluffs lying off the NW point of New Island South, both having elevations of over 300 feet. The smaller of the two bluffs has a top surface composed largely of rock debris with very sparse growth of tussac. The main bluff has a plateau covered with tussac and grassland-heath. The base of the bluffs are an important hauling ground for Fur Seal. Large numbers of Black-browed Albatross breed on the SW facing cliffs.
